Marion Island Marine Mammal Programme

Principal Investigator: Prof PJN (Nico) de Bruyn

Discipline: Ecology

Short description of the project:

The Marion Island Marine Mammal Programme (MIMMP) is a large multifaceted long-term research effort that seeks to understand the sensitivity of marine mammal populations to environmental drivers. Our interest in individual heterogeneity help us to disentangle marine mammal population processes, intra- and interspecific interactions. The MIMMP furthermore is dedicated to capacity building in both practical and theoretical areas of ecology to enhance the South African pool of researchers.
